Sam Bruce makes Seattle University proud

Filipina Samantha Bruce continued her fine start for the 2022 season by tying for fifth place while helping her Seattle University women’s golf squad finish fifth overall out of 19 schools at the Gonzaga Invitational held at the Coeur D’Alene in Idaho.

Bruce, a former Philippine national team member, tallied 212 in 54 holes with her best performance happening in the second round with a three-under-par 68 at the par-71 Coeur D’Alene Resort Golf Course.

A native of Makati City, Bruce led the top caliber field in par-three scoring and average (five-under and 2.67) and tied for third with the most number of birdies (12).

Just two weeks ago, the 5-foot-11 Bruce set a new program record for the lowest round with an eight-under-par 64, lowest 36-hole score of 137 and 54-hole tally of 210 at the Green Wave Classic in New Orleans.

Saso ends up tied for 32nd in LPGA event

After being down by just one at the start of the final round of the Walmart NW Arkansas, Saso limped with a five-over 76 to finish at eight-under 205 total for a share of 32nd place.
