NGCP postpones bidding for ancillary services

National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) of ultra bilyonaryos Big Boy Sy and Robert Coyiuto has decided to move the bidding for its ancillary services requirement to a later date.

NGCP was supposed to hold the competitive selection process (CSP) and opening of bids for the AS this week, but a recent issuance from the Energy Regulatory Commission prompted it to postpone it.

It shall issue subsequent advisories on the new timeline for the AS-CSP.

ERC has issued show cause orders against NGCP for allegedly failing to contract AS, which are necessary to support the transmission of capacity and energy from resources while maintaining reliable operation of the grid.

According to the ERC, NGCP failed to seek the regulator’s approval on its ancilliary services agreement procurement plan and terms of reference (TOR) of the AS CSP.
