Big bucks for Starbucks: Tantoco-owned franchise raises menu prices by P5

Your morning coffee just got more expensive.

Tantoco-owned Rustan Coffee Corporation has announced the implementation of a P5 across-the-board increase for all Starbucks coffee and non-caffeinated drinks on their menu starting September.

The move follows similar price increases abroad just as Starbucks brought back its popular Pumpkin Spice Latte drinks in time for fall.

Starbucks Philippines Marketing & Global Responsibility Manager Maria Rosario Vilchez said the price increase factors in the higher cost of sugar and of other raw materials, which are also hard to come by.

“We regularly review pricing to allow us to properly balance the experience we provide customers with our need to effectively run the business,” Vilchez said.

The bilyonaryo Tantoco clan owns the exclusive franchise for Starbucks stores in the country.
