TV Patrol clone? Manny Villar dead set on getting Noli de Castro, Korina Sanchez with Anthony Taberna to form ALLTV Channel 2’s dream news team

Ultra bilyonaryo Manny Villar is pulling out all the stops to assemble a dream news team for his AllTV network from the former famous anchors of TV Patrol, the country’s most watched news program before ABS-CBN Broadcasting lost its franchise.

A Babbler said Villar has made it clear to AllTV’s management, led by president Maribeth Tolentino, that he wants his former senatorial buddy Noli de Castro, and Korina Sanchez, wife of former Senator Mar Roxas, to headline Channel 2’s main news program along with newly-signed broadcaster Anthony Taberna.

“His wish list is KKK – Kabayan, Korina, and Ka Tunying. He considers them his dream team,” the Babbler said.

De Castro and Sanchez are the longest-serving anchors of TV Patrol, the biggest and most influential news media in the country for three decades. Taberna, who hosted a radio program on ABS-CBN’s DZMM also served as anchor of TV Patrol.

Both De Castro and Sanchez are thriving in their post-TV Patrol careers with their own online magazine shows.

AllTV’s flagship news program is expected to be launched by the first quarter of 2023.

ALLTV recently signed a content license deal with CNN Philippines to broadcast the 60-minute, flagship Filipino news program anchored by Pia Hontiveros starting September 13.

CNN Philippines News will serve as Channel 2’s flagship program until the Villar network has formed its own news and public affairs team.
