Rarefied air: Ex-Duterte Cabinet Secretary forks out P100M for membership in posh golf club

A former government official has formalized his entry into Manila’s upper echelon with a membership in one of the country’s exclusive golf clubs.

A Babbler said the former Cabinet Secretary (CS) paid P100 million for a share in the luxury golf club for the very, very elite just weeks after former President Rodrigo Duterte stepped down from office on June 30.

Babbler said CM had been a regular player on the club’s perfect greens during the term of Duterte by renting out the share owned by the estate of one of the country’s golf gurus.

“Now that he’s no longer with the government, he bought a club share under his name because he doesn’t need to declare it in his SALN (statement of assets liabilities and net worth),” said Babbler.
