No more text notifications: Monitoring GCash transactions just got trickier

GCash will no longer be sending text messages for each transaction starting next month, a move seen to decrease operational costs for the mobile wallet.

Pay bills transaction reports will no longer be sent via text beginning September 13, while notifications on sending money will be sent in-app by Sept. 28 under the “Activity” tab.

Transaction receipts and notices can be viewed in GCash’s inbox, the Ayala-owned firm added.

“To help improve security & provide easier access to your transaction history, we’ll begin moving confirmation messages from your text message inbox to your App Inbox,” GCash said in a text advisory.

Text messages incur telecommunication costs even if Ayala already owns Globe.
