Coins.ph founder Ron Hose quits UnionBank board

Techpreneur Ron Hose has resigned from the board of Union Bank of the Philippines of the Aboitiz family.

Hose resigned as independent director on August 26 for personal reason. Hose joined the bank in October 2020.

The Cornell Univrsity graduate chaired the bank’s operations risk management committee and was a member of the risk management, market risk, corporate governance, and information technology and cybersecurity committees.

Hose is the founder and former CEO of Coins.ph, a local fintech firm, which was acquired by ride-hailing startup Go-Jek for $95 million in 2019.

Gojek flipped Coins.ph last April to Wei Zhou, the former chief financial officer of Binance, for nearly $200 million.

Hose moved to venture capital firm Wavemaker Partners in 2020.
