San Miguel invests $1.2B for mega chicken farms

The food and beverage arm of conglomerate San Miguel Corp. has earmarked $1.2 billion for 12 the construction of 12 mega poultry plants nationwide.

SMC president Ramon S. Ang said the poultry plants that would be developed by San Miguel Food and Beverage Inc. would entail an investment of $100 million each.

Targeted for completion by end-June 2024, the 12 plants will produce around 960 million birds every year and provide one million jobs.

The facilities will rise in Davao del Sur, Quezon, Bataan, Pangasinan, Batangas; Sorsogon, Bulacan, Iloilo, Cebu, Zamboanga and Ilocos Norte.

“The target is to be up and running 24 months from today,” Ang said.

Construction work starts on Metro Manila Subway

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) broke ground on the construction of two stations of the Metro Manila Subway, a 33-kilometer underground railway system which will connect Valenzuela City to Pasay City.
