Pinoy superapp pioneer toktok launches in-app payment wallet

Pinoy-owned superapp toktok goes head-to-head with international e-commerce and logistics platforms by launching their own in-app payment wallet.

The company’s latest sub-brand, toktokload, promises a convenient e-loading system through the toktokwallet. App users can now buy mobile load and data, as well as pay for utilities. It also enables cashless transactions through for toktok deliveries.

However, unlike most e-wallet payment systems, users will enjoy discounts on mobile load purchases made through the app. Entrepreneurial toktok-ers can have their own reloading station without the hassle. The service also allows for an all-in-one portal for small businesses,

Toktok was developed by Cloud Panda PH, owned by entrepreneurs Jonathan So and Carlito Macadangdang. The app was born through adaptation. The head honchos, notorious for their relentless pursuit of success and innovation, were quick to adapt to the market gap in the logistics sector during the pandemic.

Initially aimed to sustain deliveries for their own successful companies such as Siomai King, Coppermask and Boy Bondat, toktok was designed to help provide business opportunities to a wider demographic during the lockdown.

“There were so many orders for CopperMask, Calvit-C – all our other immune boosters. A lot of our franchisees were also ordering Siomai King in bulk. Couriers couldn’t handle the demand anymore. We immediately made the decision to hire 32 programmers to create toktok,” says Jonathan So, President and CEO of the JC Group.

As luck would have it, the two had already started their own IT company, Cloud Panda Inc., in 2019.

“To be honest, the prototype was very basic. We just wanted something to keep operations running,” explains JC Group Vice President and CFO Carlito Macadangdang. “Initially, around August or September, we made toktok to address our company’s needs, with a trial run of four months. By the time December rolled around, we launched toktok officially.”

Within 60 days, toktok had 10,000 jobs to riders who were able to earn despite massive layoffs. Today, it has over a million users nationwide.

Their latest inclusion in the toktok line of services adds convenience and opportunities to regular users and small business owners alike. toktokload is 100% secure. All transactions are verified with a 6-digit T-PIN to ensure your toktokwallet stays protected.

toktok continues to provide opportunities for budding entrepreneurs. As the first Filipino-owned and operated delivery franchise service in the country, the app is Pinoy pride at its core.

“Our goal is to build a business and a means of livelihood for our partner drivers fueled by a desire to provide PInoy world-class service to our customers,” says Macadangdang.

“We always put our people first, more than anything else,” adds So. toktokload was launched via the toktok superapp on July 21, 2022.
