Ayala-led ACEN Corp. and partner Axia Power Holdings Philippines Corp. have proposed to construct a 270 megawatt battery energy storage system (BESS) in Pililla, Rizal.
The project, which will be undertaken by Ingrid Power Holdings Inc. (IPHI) will provide ancillary services to the grid.
The indicative project cost for the proposed plant is estimated at P6.875 billion which will cover engineering studies and designs, permitting and licenses; site preparation/development;construction, testing and commissionin, equipment and materials procurement and environmental management and protection.
According to IPHI, the project will use lithium-ion battery energy storage systems that have better ageing and cycle life characteristics.
Construction is to slated to begin in the first quarter next year while commercial operations are targeted by the second quarter of 2024.
