Customers of the Metropolitan Bank & Trust Co. are disputing its latest recognition as the Best Bank in the Philippines, according to Euromoney.
Their main gripe: the bank’s online systems are painfully slow in giving out one-time PINs (OTPs), a security code meant to safeguard online payments and fund transfers.
What would have been a celebratory post on the Ty-owned lender’s Facebook page turned out to be a grievance desk as irked customers protested the award.
“This award is BS! Metrobank is one of the most difficult bank to deal with!!!,” one Facebook user said.
“Sana all talaga. Tapos ang sisi sa network provider? Galing naman.”
Others took out their frustration on Twitter, reporting it’s a perennial problem despite several system upgrades.
