The son of ultra bilyonaryo Andrew Tan is reimagining the family’s gaming, entertainment, resort facility in Pasay City for the TikTok generation.
A Babbler said Alliance Global CEO Kevin Tan has renamed his Resort World Manila (RWM) to Newport World Resorts (NWR) starting July 20.
Babbler said Kevin reckoned the time was ripe for a rebranding 13 years after his father opened the hotel-casino complex in 2009 with partners Travellers International Hotel and Genting group of Malaysia.
Babbler said the name change signals Kevin’s plan to revolutionize the way the young set see the integrated resort (IR) industry as not just a place where titos and titas hang out.
The 42-year old Kevin hopes to bring the youth vibe back to NWM with hotel, gaming, entertainment, dining and retail units geared for millennials and Generation Z.
When RWM opened in NWM in 2009, it became the hottest place in town where the cool crowd gathered (Opus, Republiq, and Universe). Babbler said this is what Kevin wants to recapture with the makeover plans he has on tap.
