Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman eyes laying off employees across 187 government agencies and state-run companies to identify redundancies and cut costs.
That would mean sending 100,000 government employees jobless out of an estimated 2-million workforce.
Pangandaman said she will operationalize the order of President Bongbong Marcos to “rightsize the bureaucracy,” and will be finalized before his first State of the Nation Address.
Exempted from mass layoffs are public school teachers and teaching-related positions, medical and allied medical positions, the military, and other uniformed personnel.
