The P1,000 polymer bill is so precious and fragile, a folded banknote will reportedly be rejected by SM Malls, the largest mall operator in the country.
Facebook user Reylen Lopez expressed frustration after his folded polymer bill was not accepted as payment in a popular mall, all because it was folded.
‘Di kailangan ng mahabang wallet! SM clarifies: Folded P1,000 polymer bill accepted as payment
“Wag na Po kayu mag-ipon ng bagong 1k! Bawal daw I fold o tupiin as per SM Management,” Lopez wrote. “Ipangbabayad q sana to, Hindi nila tinanggap. Bawal daw tupiin. Hindi kami na inform.”
The polymer P1,000 bills are on trial stage, a project of former BSP Governor now Finance Secretary Benjamin Diokno.
His successor Gov. Felipe Medalla earlier earned so much backlash after he told Pinoys to buy longer wallets as the bills were sensitive to folding and creasing.
Netizens are in disbelief.
“Gawin nlang coins ang isang libo pra di matupi? haynako pinas,” another said.
