Imee claps back at critics of mom Imelda’s 93rd birthday party in Malacañang; Teddy Boy Locsin weighs in

Senator Imee Marcos maintained that there was nothing wrong with celebrating the 93rd birthday of her mother, former First Lady Imelda Marcos in Malacañang since it was just a simple get-together.

“We had a simple family and friends get-together. We just had a small get-together, and her musical and arts scholars performed a small recital for her. And she was very, very pleased,” she said in an interview aired over ANC.

She said that her mother also addressed her guests and told them how happy she was to live to see her son become the president of the Philippines like her late husband.

Imee also denied that the party was a lavish shindig, saying her mother’s friends are too ancient to rock on the dance floor.

“I don’t think that’s the case. I’m sure everyone brought food as a matter of fact. It was quite funny. At saka libre naman lahat ng produkto. Bawal ba yun? Di ko alam. Kasi nagbi-birthday party rin ako nung bata ako doon eh. Bawal ba yun?,” she said.

Meanwhile, outgoing DFA Secretary Teddy Boy Locsin also reacted to the senator’s statement.

It can be recalled that after the fall of the Marcoses in 1986, Locsin came on board as a speechwriter and legal counsel of President Corazon Aquino. He also served in various government capacities under different administrations.
