Former Transportation Secretary Art Tugade proudly claimed that he is leaving the Department of Transportation (DOTr) a better agency than what it was prior to his entry.
“Looking at how far we have come, I can proudly say that our toil was not in vain,” Tugade said as he recalled the hardships he and his team faced in the past six years.
“As what we have vowed six years ago, we shall be leaving this organization better than what it was before we came in,” he added.
Tugade said it was the Filipino people who served as his inspiration to keep going amid the challenges.
He said the mandate given to him by former President Rodrigo Duterte was to make the life of the Filipino people comfortable and convenient.
“Six years ago, my heart was full of hope and enthusiasm to give Filipinos an improved quality of life. After six years, my hope and enthusiasm remain the same,” Tugade said.
“As we step down from office, I implore you to give the same, if not more, amount of support and trust to the next administration. Incoming Transportation Secretary Jimmy Bautista has my full support as he committed to study and continue the big-ticket projects and policies of the DOTr,” he added.
