End of an era: BDO’s top economist Jonas Ravelas transferring to software firm

BDO Chief Market Strategist Jonathan Ravelas has resigned from the country’s biggest bank for a post at an accounting software company.

Ravelas will be working at e-Methods for Business Management Corp. (EMBM) starting July 1 as a consultant on financial services and strategy.

“Jonathan brings in a wealth of knowledge, experience and relationships that entrepreneurs, business leaders will benefit from… his firebrand of “Ravelations” (analysis) of timely, unbiased and unfiltered insights helps contribute to better business decisions and timely investments,” EMBM president Cristy Llacer Oreta said in a statement.

Ravelas is often interviewed for market views on the stocks and currency trading, and bagged multiple global awards for his analyses.

Panguil Bay bridge now 61% complete

Construction of the 3.17-kilometer bridge that will reduce travel time between Lanao del Norte and Misamis Occidental is now 61 percent complete, according to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
