Kailan makakalipad? Etihad leaves Manila passengers in limbo

Several passengers of Etihad Airways have been stuck in a hotel in Makati after their flight was cancelled twice without any explanation from the airline.

A Babbler told Bilyonaryo that the passengers were supposed to leave on Monday (June 28) at 8 p.m. However, they were told four times that the boarding time would be pushed back.

“We were informed that boarding will start at 7:35 pm, then moved to 9:15 pm, then 10:15 pm, then 11:30 pm, then 12:30 am. Finally they said due to technical reason flight will now be canceled at 1:30 am,” the disgruntled passenger said. “At 2:00 am they bought us to Dusit Hotel.”

The harrowing experience did not end there. They were promised that they will be shuttled back to the airport at 8:30 a.m. the next day for a 2 p.m. flight, which was also cancelled.

Through it all, there were no Etihad ground crew or flight attendants that entertained questions or gave explanations save for those tasked to bring the stranded passengers to Dusit Thani Hotel in Makati.

As if the successive flight cancellations were not bad enough, Etihad reportedly failed to endorse the affected passengers to Turkish Airlines, its alternative airline of choice.

“Etihad is unbelievable,” the Babbler said. “We bought business class seats but they treat us like trash.”
