In a statement, Marcos Jr.’s press secretary-designate Rose Beatrix Cruz Angeles said Guillermo’s experience in the BSP’s Technology and Digital Innovation Office as well as her nearly four decades of service at the BIR complements the incoming administration’s goal of boosting the country’s revenue through efficient tax collection.

Bilyonaryo.com reported last June 9 that Guillermo was Bongbong’s top choice to lead the BIR.

According to a Babbler, Guillermo is one of the trusted executives of BSP Governor and incoming Finance Secretary Benjamin Diokno.

Guillermo was cited for the successful implementation of the Philippines Tax Computerization Project, which modernized the tax collection system of the BIR and the Bureau of Customs.

Cruz-Angeles said Guillermo would be joined by lawyer Romeo Lumagui Jr. who was appointed as BIR Deputy Commissioner for Operations.

Lumagui previously “served as the Regional Investigation Division Chief of Revenue Region No. 7B East NCR.”
