9M subscribers and counting! Dennis Uy’s DITO hits new milestone

DITO Telecommunity’s mobile subscriber base keeps growing, gaining more than nine million users.

The new milestone comes a little over a year since the telco hit the one million-subscriber mark.

DITO, a joint venture between Davao-based businessman Dennis Uy’s group and China Telecom, hit its one-millionth subscriber in just three months after its commercial launch on March 8, 2021. It has now expanded its presence in more than 540 cities and municipalities nationwide.

This comes after the telco welcomed subscribers from Paombong Bulacan, Ramon and Reina Mercedes in Isabela, Puerto Princesa Palawan, Pagsanjan and Pila Laguna, San Jose Occidental Mindoro, and Naguilian Isabela earlier this month.

DITO has also made its presence felt in more areas in Ilocos, Cagayan, Benguet, Kalinga, Isabela, Pangasinan, Bulacan, Pampanga, Bataan Zambales, and Rizal last April and May.

Later this month, DITO will light up 17 more barangays in Ilocos Sur, Camarines Sur, Sorsogon, Leyte, Negros Occidental, Zamboanga del Sur, Lanao de Norte, Agusan del Norte, and Albay as part of its commercial expansion.

DITO chief administrative officer Adel Tamano said the company is preparing for its yearly government audit slated next month.

He said the company is confident of hitting 70 percent of the country’s population shortly before July, “allowing it to finally go head-to-head against the country’s two legacy mobile network operators in terms of presence.”
