Telco giant PLDT Inc. is bolstering its capabilities to combat cyberthreats as it joins a global council of cybersecurity experts.
PLDT chief information security officer Angel Redoble said it has joined the newly formed Cyber Defenders Council to promote a more proactive cybersecurity stance in securing networks, assets, and customers.
The Cyber Defenders Council is an independent group of cybersecurity leaders from around the world which supports the “Defend Forward” approach.
Defend Forward is a cyber strategy which entails proactively disrupting malicious cyber activity before it reaches its target.
“[The Council] is something that the community needs. For the longest time, we have been working in silos. While our enemies are banding together, getting stronger and better, we the good guys are doing things on our own,” Redoble said.
“We have reached the part where we not only collaborate but work together on a tactical and operational perspective,” he added.
Since the country’s cyberspace is continuously growing, Redoble said it is important to keep abreast with ever evolving cyberthreats.
The PLDT Group has been aggressive in its efforts to combat cyberthreats, investing close to P2 billion in its cybersecurity operations center last year.
