Ultra bilyonaryo Manny Villar has reportedly deployed celebrity TV host Korina Sanchez to poach the remaining talents of her former home, ABS-CBN Corp. of the Lopez family.
A Babbler said Sanchez and another former ABS-CBN alumna, former TV Patrol producer Cheryl Favila, have been actively recruiting staff in the Lopez network with generous offers to jump ship to Villar’s Advanced Manila Broadcasting System which took over ABS-CBN’s former channels 2 (analog) and 16 (digital) five months ago.

(Favila left ABS-CBN after 21 years when she and her partner, news segment producer Marciar Asprec, were sued by TV Patrol celebrity newscaster Gretchen Fullido for alleged sexual harassment).
“They (Sanchez and Favila) are getting reporters and their former production staff in ABS who have not been retrenched since it lost it franchise in 2020. They were offering substantial compensation,” the Babbler said.
Sanchez, however, strongly denied this. “I really don’t know what the basis of this fake news could be. I have had no communication with anyone from the supposed Villar network so far. I, though, wish the new frequency owners only the best,” she in a statement sent to Bilyonaryo.com.
After Bilyonaryo.com reported that Villar was pirating her and other TV news heavy hitters, Sanchez said she was open to joining the richest Filipino as she was a “free agent.”
Sanchez is the wife of bilyonaryo politiko Mar Roxas who was supposed to run for president against Villar in 2010 (a year after their marriage). Roxas, however, withdrew from the race to give way to the late Noynoy Aquino who beat Villar.
