Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade will inaugurate tomorrow the completed development projects at the Vigan Airport.
Tugade last February ordered project contractors to fasttrack the expansion works at Ilocos Sur’s air gateway.
According to the Department of Transportation (DOTr), the airport is now far from its previous condition two months ago.
Completed development projects at the Vigan Airport include expanded and improved passenger terminal building, a powerhouse, and the provision of runway features.
Ongoing projects at the airport include the construction of water tanks, vehicular parking area, cyclone wire perimeter fence, and a runway drainage system.
Once operational, the Vigan Airport can accommodate 150 passengers at any given time, three times more compared to its present capacity of 40 passengers.
“A revitalized Vigan Airport is expected to bring economic development, tourism growth and job opportunities in the province, while addressing Ilocos Sur’s connectivity and mobility needs,” the DOTr said.
