Robina Gokongwei-Pe rounded up all executives under Universal Robina Corp. (URC) to celebrate the University of the Philippines’ historic victory in the UAAP men’s basketball competition.
She hosted a thanksgiving dinner on May 17, four days since the group’s historic win that ended a 36-year championship drought.

Gokongwei has been a supportive “ninang” of the UP Fighting Maroons, financing their training and other needs through the years.
Also standing as “ninongs” and “ninangs” of the team are Maret & Jun Bautista, Jody Gadia (Adviser, Robinsons Retail), Stanley Co (Robinsons Supermarket), Willy Co (Handyman), Vincent Go (Robina Farms, TopBreed), Katherine Yu (Daiso), Tin Tueres and Ben Luison (The Generics Pharmacy), and Jovito Santos (Robinsons Appliances).
The UP Fighting Maroons overpowered the Ateneo Blue Eagles in a tense overtime match, 72-69, to clinch the UAAP trophy on May 13.
