End of rivalry: ABS-CBN agrees to air Star Cinema movies on GMA
“We are so excited with this partnership. ABS-CBN has our respect as a network and content producer. We know that our audience, most especially Filipinos, deserve the best that Philippine producers can offer,” said GMA Network Films president abogado Annette Gozon-Valdes.
“The entertainment industry is already thrust into the global sphere and we should shine as one. Many things that seem impossible before can be the truths and realities of tomorrow. This is just the start! We look forward to more collaborations in the future with ABS-CBN,” said Gozon-Valdes.
GMA and ABS-CBN signed an agreement on April 5 to license some of Star Cinema’s most popular and well-loved movies on the leading television network.
ABS-CBN used to dominate its decades-long rivalry with GMA until the Lopez family lost its franchise two years ago.
A Babbler said Gozon-Valdes and ABS-CBN president and CEO Carlo Katigbak were the main catalysts in laying the groundwork for the collaboration.
“They made this partnership impossible possible,” the Babbler said.
