An “Ironman” motorcycle challenge for BMW big bike riders is drawing flak online after one of the night ride participants hit a private car coursing through a national highway.
Facebook user Nica Margarette Tomines snapped photos of their damaged SUV after some of the speeding Ironman participants hit them as they were travelling from La Union back to Manila.
“Calling out the organizers of this event. Perwisyo mga participants niyo sa daan. Ang bibilis nila, ang sisilaw ng led lights, they are not following traffic rules – nangaagaw ng lane,” Tomines wrote, with her post now at over 2,200 shares and reactions. “Ang iingay pa. At alas dose ng madaling araw pa talaga.”
Her car is wrecked but thankfully the passengers were unhurt.
“What is the purpose of this event again? Do we really need to have these kinds of events?! Quite ironic that BOSS means BMW Owners Society of SAFE RIDERS. What a joke,” she added.
“24 hours from Pampanga to Pagudpud and back. Anong klaseng kalokohan yan to promote safe riding. Time to pack these kinds of events. How do you expect riders to be fully functional for 24 hours of driving. Riders are racing on a public highway!!!”
