Negros region’s influential Yanson clan has denied there was a deliberate attempt to sabotage the campaign rally of Vice President Leni Robredo in Bacolod by cancelling buses hired by her supporters.
Sabotage? Yansons draw flak over lack of buses for Robredo’s Negros rally
So-called “Kakampinks” claimed Friday (March 11) that the Yanson-owned Ceres Bus Lines canceled inter-city trips within Negros Occidental to discourage people from attending Robredo’s campaign rally. The lease contracts entered into by campaign volunteers were also reportedly revoked.
“Vallacar Transit Inc. would like to inform our beloved riding public that we have no stoppage of trips nor cancellation of our operations in any part of Northern Negros. This is contrary to the statement maliciously spread in the social media,” the company said in a statement.
The Yansons are backing the UniTeam tandem of Bongbong Marcos and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.
“We are operating with a limited number of units due to the health restrictions but in spite of this, we are trying our best that no passenger gets left behind. We cannot cater to the whims of groups that would leave our routes in a vacuum. This is against LTFRB’s policy,” the family said, adding that the public should be discerning about information they read on social media.
