Not so secret anymore: Nadine Lustre opposes DPWH bridge construction to Siargao’s hidden jewel

Nadine Lustre is worried that a bridge under construction by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will destroy the virgin beach tucked away in Siargao Island.
In a series of Instagram stories, the 28-year-old actress urged locals to oppose the construction of a bridge leading to the Secret Beach in Malinao.
“Secret Beach is definitely one of the most peaceful spots in the island. It makes me so sad to know that people are planning to build a bridge that will totally destroy the area. It will also destroy the mangroves, sea grass… disrupting the natural habitat of other species living in this protected area,” she wrote.
“The island hasn’t completely recovered from Typhoon Odette… I wish this was more prioritized that anything else,” she added. “Malinao is already beautiful as it is. Secret Beach should be preserved. Please come tomorrow and say NO,” the actress added, referring to a consultation meeting of the local Department of Environment and Natural Resources set on Friday, March 4.
Lustre has considered Siargao her second home. Last year, she confirmed building her own house on the picturesque island.
