The Senate committee on public order and dangerous drugs will invite businessman Charlie “Atong” Ang to its hearing next week on the disappearance of 31 cockfighting aficionados, Senator Ronald Dela Rosa said Friday (February 25).

“We are going to conduct another hearing next week, wherein iimbitahan na natin lahat nung mga nababanggit doon na hindi natin naimbitahan last meeting. Pati si Atong Ang, iimbitahan natin,” said Dela Rosa, the committee chairman.
“Baka today imbitahan siya at padalhan ng subpoena,” the lawmaker added.

Dela Rosa said Ang was invited to the February 24 hearing but declined citing health reasons.
Ang, however, reportedly promised to attend future proceedings once his condition improve

The former Philippine National Police chief said Ang’s attendance is crucial since he owns three of the arenas where the cockfighting aficionados were last seen before going missing.
Dela Rosa said Ang could be considered a suspect in the cockfighting aficionados’ disappearance.
