The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor) will have to seek President Rodrigo Duterte’s nod before suspending e-sabong operations in the country.
Pagcor Vice President of E-Sabong Licensing Department Diane Erica Jogno disclosed the need to seek Duterte’s permission during the Senate hearing on the disappearance of 31 cockfighting aficionados Thursday (February 24).

Senate President Vicente Sotto III had asked Pagcor to suspend e-sabong operations “until we find an acceptable conclusion to what’s happening to these 31 missing personalities.”

“As guided by our top management, we are okay with the suspending of the operations and we will also seek the approval from the Office of the President,” Jogno said.

Authorities are looking at several motives, including possibly game fixing, for the disappearances of the cockfighting aficionados.
Pagcor has granted e-sabong licenses to seven firms, namely: Belvedere Vista Corporation, Lucky 8 Star Quest, Visayas Cockers Club, Jade Entertainment and Gaming Technologies, Newin Cockers Alliance Gaming Corporation, Philippine Cockfighting International, and Golden Buzzer.
