Mikee Romero’s wife Sheila, daughter Milka take over Globalport

The wife and daughter of bilyonaryo Mikee Romero secured the top posts in the holding firm GlobalPort 2000 during its first stockholders meeting in five years.

Sheila Marie Bermudez Romero was elected chairperson and president while Mikaela Louise “Milka” Romero was named vice-chairperson and a member of the related party transactions committee during Globalport’s annual stockholders’ meeting on January 12.

Globalport has been idle since 2017 as it “reassessed its strategic direction.” It has not submitted an audited financial report in the last two years. In 2019, the company recognized an impairment loss of P300 million from its investment in Platinum Dredging.

Its shares have been suspended from trading since 2014 due to failure to submit financial reports.

Sheila is the registered owner of Sultan 900 Capital which controls 89 percent of Globalport. The 50-year old De La Salle University graduate is also the chairperson, president, and chief executive officer of Globalcity Mandaue which is developing a 131-hectare reclaimed property in Mandaue Global City in Cebu.

Milka is currently the managing director of Sushi Nori and Roku Sushi + Ramen.

Only Edwin Joseph G. Galvez and Marvee M. Espejo retained their seats in the election of directors.

The new members of the Globalport board are abogado Ariel Arriola, Henry Virola, Walter Enrique Ramos, Dennis Morada, and Sherwin Mendiola.
