SECB told the Philippine Stock Exchange that it has yet to confirm when Gary Butler would take over as senior vice president and chief information security officer.
“He is still in New Zealand and current travel restrictions prevent him from flying over to the Philippines,” SECB said.
New Zealand’s March 2020 order for its citizens not to travel overseas due to the COVID-19 pandemic is still in effect.
Butler used to be head of Thailand’s Siam Commercial Bank head of cyber and info tech risk management.
Butler was among three expatriate hirings announced by SECB on September 28. SVP for retail banking transformation Jiri Matousek and SVP for collections Sohel Kanchwala have already reported for work.
SECB, whose president Sanjiv Vohra is from India, has the most expatriates on its management team among Philippine banks.
