Ty family-led Metropolitan Bank & Trust Co. has stepped up its fraud awareness campaign to educate the banking public and to help prevent them from falling victim to fraudulent texts, calls and emails from scammers pretending to be official representatives of their banks.

The COVID-19 pandemic has seen an uptick in digital payments, opening up an even bigger playground for fraudsters to con unsuspecting people.

At Metrobank, consumer safety and security are of utmost priority.

The country’s second largest bank has always been an active participant in the nationwide effort to fight fraud.

”We are committed to protecting the banking public from fraud. Therefore, we see the need to ensure that we have frequent reminders not just for our customers but also for the public,” Metrobank said.

Metrobank has called on its customers to be vigilant and practice due diligence. The public is informed of the latest fraud modus and frequent fraud schemes they should watch out for. While for the bank’s customers, direct engagement through client webinars are conducted and SMS and email alerts are also sent out to impart fraud awareness and prevention.

“Part of our financial education thrust is to ensure that our customers are equipped with the right knowledge not only on how to make informed financial decisions but also on how to protect their hard-earned money. With our continuous education drive on fraud prevention and our collaboration with other institutions across the industry, we can all bond together to fight fraud,” Metrobank said.
