The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is seeking to immediately deliver the right of way for the NLEX connector project to ensure the completion of the 8-kilometer expressway by the first quarter of next year.
NLEX Corp. has budgeted P23 billion for this project. The first 5-kilometer section of the expressway, which is now halfway complete, traverses Caloocan Interchange in C3/5th Avenue to España Boulevard in Sampaloc, Manila.
The next three-kilometer section spans from España Interchange up to the vicinity of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines in Sta. Mesa, Manila will start construction within the year.
Once completed, the NLEX Connector will have four toll plazas and interchanges in C3 and España.
It will serve 35,000 motorists daily and provide better access to Manila ports and airports such as NAIA and Clark. This will also enable faster transport of goods and services between Metro Manila and Luzon provinces.
