The popular Flotsam and Jetsam Hostel in San Juan, La Union, claimed to the police that artist Bree Jonson died by suicide in the room she shared with Bobby Ongpin’s son.
In a statement, Police Regional Office 1 chief PBGen Emmanuel Peralta said policemen at the San Juan Municipal Police Station in La Union responded to an alleged suicide report from the resort management.
“Our operatives from San Juan Municipal Police Station immediately responded to check on the veracity of the reported incident that resulted in the discovery of the lifeless body of Breana Patricia Jonson Agunod. She was with her boyfriend, Julian Roberto Ongpin,” Peralta said, mentioning Jonson’s full name.
Police also found 12.6 grams of cocaine in the hotel room. Ongpin was arrested and subjected to a drug test, which yielded a positive result.
Ongpin is now facing drug charges, though it’s unknown if he’s currently held in police custody.
“On behalf of Police Regional Office 1, I would like to express my deepest sympathy to the bereaved family of the late Breana Patricia Jonson Agunod. May the comfort of our God be with you and may you be consoled by the outpouring support of our fellowmen,” Peralta added.
“Investigation is ongoing to determine the real cause of death of the victim and to be able to gather pieces of evidence for possible filing of other charges if evidence warrants.”
