The son of bilyonaryo Bobby Ongpin has been arrested after being caught with “plenty” of cocaine inside the hostel he was staying in La Union with a female companion, the Philippine Daily Inquirer reported Monday (Sept 20).
According to the police, 29-year-old Julian Ongpin was with artist Bree Jonson at the Flotsam and Jetsam Hostel when the police arrived following complaints of ruckus coming from their room.
Jonson was found unconscious inside the room. She was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
San Juan police chief Maj. Gerardo Macaraeg reported there was “plenty of cocaine” found on the bed, but authorities are unsure if this had a role in Johnson’s death.
An autopsy will be performed on Jonson’s body while Ongpin was taken to custody for possession of illegal drugs.
Based on CCTV footage, Macaraeg said Ongpin looked anxious and was drinking as he went in and out of the hotel room where Jonson’s body was found.
Ongpin is the Alphaland Corp. CEO’s son with the late Australian Della Stone. He grew up in Australia. He has three other siblings from his father’s side.
