A seller on Lazada claims to have lost P150,000 to a scam supposedly involving employees of the shopping platform.
Jefferson Sy said computer parts ordered by a buyer in Laguna ended up on Facebook Marketplace after the sale was cancelled following its dispatch for delivery.
He, in turn, received bubble wrapped toiletries instead of the computer parts that were supposed to be returned to him after the cancelled transaction.
Sy said in a Facebook post that his online shop ,J-Tech, has fallen victim to this scheme five times already.
In a Facebook post, Sy narrated how a customer would book an order based in Laguna and he would send the product. However, the order will suddenly be canceled by the customer but a different item will be returned to him, rather than the prized computer accessories which he originally sent.
When he finally caught on, he decided to keep multiple pieces of evidence to make his case against Lazada. However, his refund request got rejected each time. He recounted sending a very distinctly packed shipment – complete with security seals and a personal note – only to receive a bubble-wrapped tub of lotion and soap during the return process.
“Sobrang conscious ko sa store rating at reputation ko para may confidence ang customers ko pag bumibili sila sakin. Para sa kaalaman ng lahat, hindi madali magkaroon ng 100% ratings sa lahat ng categories. Pero dahil sa mga ganitong modus, nasisira ang tiwala nila dahil sa kagagawan ng iba,” he wrote in his now-viral post.
He has elevated his concern to a supervisor and even sent an email to the head of Lazada Philippines, but to no avail.
He then found that someone from San Pedro, Laguna got the package and was selling it below market value on Facebook Marketplace. Sy confirmed it was his, as the serial number of the product matched the one that went missing in the mail.
“Obviously, wala na ko maasahan sa Lazada so I’m posting this here in public. Para sa small time seller na gaya ko (I only do this part time), this amount is not pocket change! Alam naman natin lahat na we are all trying to get by this pandemic,” Sy wrote. “Hindi ko masikmura walang ginagawa ang Lazada sa mga ganitong modus. Mas lalo naeengganyo mga tao na gumawa neto kasi alam nila na hindi sila hinuhuli at makakalusot sila lagi.”
He then challenged Lazada to sue him if he was wrong to establish his confidence.
“Tandaan, kung kaya nila gawin to sakin, kaya rin ni Lazada gawin to SAYO. COVID na nga, dumagdag pa to sa sakit ng ulo. Nakawan? #NasaLazadaYan,” Sy added.
