McDonald’s Philippines is enjoying a surge in sales thanks to fans of the Korean boy group BTS.
Margot Torres, the fastfood chain’s marketing head, told ANC Wednesday (June 23) that McDonald’s sold 3.5 million chicken nuggets on June 18, the day that its BTS meal was officially launched.
“It was phenomenal,” Torres said. “We’ve sold close to a million BTS Meals so that includes the fries, the McNuggets and the drink since the launch… We really painted the town purple.”
The BTS meal consists of 10 pieces of chicken nuggets, medium fries and Coke, and a piece each of Cajun and sweet chili dips. The items are packed in special McDonald’s packaging that bears the BTS logo.
Despite the high demand for the BTS meal, Torres is grateful that ARMYs diligently follow health protocols in ordering at their branches.
“You would have really felt the energy and the love of the BTS Army. Everything was very orderly, we made sure we followed the safety protocols, we had queueing for our riders, we had a queue also for the customers,” she said.
It’s the perfect deal as fans get their fill and their unique BTS-branded packaging while McDonald’s cashes in on the craze. Everybody happy!
