Hard-working, committed, generous: PNB grieves over death of EVP-CFO Sonny Reyes

Bilyonaryo Lucio Tan lost one of his most trusted executives in Philippine National Bank (PNB).

In a letter to the PNB family, president Wick Veloso announced that the bank’s chief financial officer and executive vice president Nelson “Sonny” Reyes died on May 27. Reyes was 57 years old.

Reyes was also chairman of PNB Europe Plc.

As a colleague, Sonny was hardworking, committed, and generous in sharing his ideas and challenges…As a mentor, Sonny helped shape the minds and hearts of those who were fortunate to be under his leadership,” said Veloso.

Reyes, a Dela La Salle University alumnus, was a colleague of Veloso in The HongKong & Shanghai Banking Corp. Reyes joined PNB in 2015 or three years before Veloso took over as president.

Veloso has appointed Reyes’ deputy, VP Aidell Gregorio, as OIC of PNB’s financial management.
