Two months after its launch, the Dennis Uy- owned Dito Telecommunity admitted Monday (May 17) that it’s struggling to catch up with Smart Telecommunications and Globe Telecom in terms of providing quality mobile services.

Dito chief technology officer Rodolfo Santiago said the telco needs to improve connectivity speeds in areas that are hard to reach.

“To be honest, in some areas that we have some challenge in terms of our rollout, we may not be superior to the incumbents,” Santiago said during telco’s launch in Metro Manila.

Dito’s subscriber base has grown to 500,000 since its commercial launch on March 8. Over 100 cities and towns are covered by its services.

The telco has committed to provide a minimum average broadband speed of 27 Mbps in its first year of operations, and to cover 37 percent of the population.
