Arthaland announced the hiring of Cornelio “Nilo” Mapa Jr. as its new treasurer and executive vice president starting May 1. He will take the place of Po’s son, Leo, who has taken a sabbatical to further his studies.
Mapa served senior executive roles with the Gokongwei Group of companies and its subsidiaries from 2002 to 2020. His most recent posts were SVP for investments and new builds of JG Summit EVP for corporate strategy of Universal Robina. He was also managing director of the URC branded consumer food group and general manager of Robinsons Land’s commercial centers division.
JG Summit described Mapa’s role as “a chief strategist (who provides ) mergers and acquisitions investment advisory on consumer-facing businesses and logistics, including project management, and to provide proper business stewardship.”
Before getting hired by the late bilyonaryo John Gokongwei, Mapa worked as SVP and CFO of Coca Cola Bottlers Philippines and of La Tondeña Distillers.
Mapa was recently appointed independent director of Radiowealth Finance Corporation.
Mapa has economics and international finance degrees from New York University and obtained his MBA from International Institute for Management Development in Lausanne, Switzerland.
