The Makati Business Club hailed the Supreme Court’s unanimous decision to junk the election protest of former senator Ferdinand “ Bongbong” Marcos against Vice President Leni Robredo.

“MBC applauds the Supreme Court for settling the 2016 Vice Presidential election dispute, and doing so with rare unanimity,” said the MBC, a private, non-profit association founded in 1981 to promote the role of the business sector in national development efforts.

According to the MBC, the decision confirms the Philippines’ electoral process and removes a major source of unnecessary and damaging political uncertainty.

The ruling also “strengthens the unity we need to win the war against COVID-19 and accelerate the jobs and economic recovery needed by our people,” the business group said.
