Kiefer Ravena inspires fight against COVID-19 crisis

PBA superstar and Cocolife brand ambassador  Kiefer Ravena features in a new inspirational video  that recounts his ups and downs during the COVID-19 pandemic, and how he learned to cope during this crisis.

Ravena was appointed captain of Gilas Pilipinas in February 2020. The decision by interim coach Mark Dicken aimed to bridge the gap between young and old players within the team. His appointment was made in preparation for the international FIBA Asia Cup. Unfortunately, due to the global outbreak of COVID-19, all subsequent games were postponed in the same month.

“Sa isang iglap, nagbago ang lahat. Dahil sa COVID-19, tumigil ang mundo. Ang daming ipinagbawal. Bawal lumabas, bawal ang sports.. Bawal na muna ang mag-basketball,” lamented Ravena.

Although disappointed in the turn of events, Ravena made good use of his time during the quarantine period. He distributed healthy, packed meals of salad, rice and roasted chicken to military checkpoints in Cainta, Rizal. The Gilas star even went as far as to auction his own shoes to help raise funds for medical frontliners during the lockdown.

“Naisip ko, hindi naman bawal ang tumulong. Hindi naman bawal maging parte ng solusyon.. So in my own little way, gumawa ako ng paraan para makatulong sa mga kababayan at makapagbigay ng pag-asa,” explains Kiefer.
