Bilyonaryo Lucio Tan’s Philippine Airlines (PAL) has canceled the special passenger flights between the US and Manila this week after the government suspended all international commercial flights to and from the country for one week starting May 3.
“As a result, we have had to cancel our special passenger flights from the USA bound for Manila, departing on the days from May 4 up to May 8,” said Cielo Villaluna, spokesperson of PAL.
“If you are previously booked on any of the canceled flights, we will endeavor to rebook you to another special flight operating after the airport closure period. All such flights are subject to government approvals,” she added.
National Task Force COVID-19 has requested the Department of Transportation to temporarily suspend the use of all Philippine International airpots, except for emergency en route flights for inbound international flights.
The government issued the suspension to allow front line agencies to upgrade their testing and screening protocols and expand editing quarantine and medical facilities to adequately deal with the growing number of repatriates and COVID-19 cases in the Philippines.
