President Rodrigo Duterte’s former economic adviser Michael Yang Hong Ming is donating big-time to his long-time Davao friend’s battle to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the Philippines.
Yang, an alleged secret kingpin in the booming Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations (POGO) business, is reportedly shipping in 2.5 million face masks and 30,000 testing kits amid the the 30-day total lockdown declared by Duterte in Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.
Yang’s donation is considered timely considering the acute shortage in face masks and testing kits.
Bilyonaryo had previously reported that Yang was the real power behind Xionwei Technologies Inc., one of 60 licensees awarded by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp.
Xionwei runs POGO call centers (serving offshore gamblers playing online casino in China) through seven sub-licensees, the biggest of which is the Fontana Hot Spring Leisure Parks casino resort used to be owned by Macau gaming tycoon Jack Lam.
