The Davao City office issued an evacuation order for residents of Magallanes Residences, another DMCI-developed condominium in Davao City.
The evacuation order was issued following the discovery of major structural cracks in the building’s beams.
Only a portion of the building was cordoned off previously, until a follow-up inspection revealed more cracks and damages. It has since been tagged under code red, meaning it must be vacated immediately.
“We will still give them time to correct what needs to be corrected. It will now depend on the structural engineer of Toledo on how they will work on the damages before we can allow residents to go back in their units,” chief building official Grace Catubig said in a statement.
Palmetto Place and Ecoland 4000 were the other DMCI condos which collapsed following the 6.5 magnitude earthquake in October last year.
