The newly-created Department of Human Settlement and Urban Development’s (DHSUD) first order of business is to fix the issues involving the collapsed condominiums in President Duterte’s hometown.
SunStar Davao reported that DHSUD had barred the collection of amortization from unit owners in four condominiums that collapsed when a strong earthquake hit Mindanao in October.
Covered by the suspension order, which took effect Jan.8, were DMCI’s Ecoland 4000, Magallanes Residences, Palmetto Place and Verdon Parc.

Duterte on Friday threatened to ban property developer DMCI from constructing more buildings if it fails to settle its obligations with Ecoland 4000’s tenants.
DHSUD has also set dialogues with homeowners on Jan. 13-14.
