PAL, Cebu Pacific to repatriate Filipinos in UAE for free

Lucio Tan-led Philippine Airlines and the Gokongwei family’s Cebu Pacific are ready to mount special flights to the Middle East to help repatriate thousands of Filipinos amid escalating tensions between Iran and the US.

According to the Philippine Daily Inquirer, PAL and Cebu Pacific “agreed to fly Filipinos free of charge via the UAE or other available Middle East flights.”

The conflict stemmed from the assassination of top Iranian general Qassem Soleimani in a drone strike ordered by US President Donald Trump.

According to the Department of Affairs, the threat level in Iraq has been raised to alert level 4, calling for mandatory evacuation amid fears of an imminent attack.
