Cignal TV and TV5 president Jane Basas must have made a positive, lasting impact on her bosses that new and better opportunities keep knocking at her door.
Sources said Basas, who has steered Cignal TV into the fastest-growing subscription TV company in the country, is set to join mobile phone provider Smart Communications Inc. to help reclaim its dominance.
Basas is rumored to take the chief marketing officer role.
Under Basa’s stewardship, CignalTV has increased its subscriber base to 2.2 million subscribers, making it the biggest cable TV provider in the country today.
Cignal TV is a subsidiary of MediaQuest Holdings, the media arm of the PLDT Group.
Meanwhile, local broadsheet BusinessWorld Publishing Corp. has accepted the resignation of its editor-in-chief Roby Alampay, who is reportedly setting up his own podcast.
