MVP open to forging block time deal with ABS-CBN

Telco magnate Manuel V. Pangilinan, chairman of TV5 Network Inc., is open to the possibility of entering into a block time agreement with ABS-CBN Corp. should the Lopez-led network fail to get its franchise renewed.

“We have lots of highways…Setting politics aside, if they want to enter into a block time deal, wala naman kaming masyadong entertainment content,” said Pangilinan.

Pangilinan, however, pointed out that there were no ongoing talks between the two networks.

“They haven’t approached us. Walang kumakausap sa amin,” he said.

“I don’t want to be presumptuous. We don’t want to think about it. We don’t want to take the first step,” Pangilinan said.

Pangilanan ,however, said he was “reluctant” to forging any deal with ABS-CBN because of the political issues.

President Duterte has been very vocal about his displeasure over ABS-CBN to the point that he threatened to block the renewal of the TV station’s franchise.

On Monday, Duterte even urged the Lopez family to sell the network, whose legislative franchise will expire on March 30, 2020.
